D-normal/V-essay: Videotage Edition - Open Call
Open Call: 2025.12.19-2026.02.06. Videotage will generously take up Floating Projects' D-Normal/V-essay to publish the 7th edition fully with their resources. This is also to sustain FP and Videotage's belief in reaching out, through open calls. 「公噸徵集」是為了張開、延續,鼓勵發表。感謝錄影太奇「接波」,精準善用他們有限的資源,令這個願望得以燃燒下去。
Connect global video creators
Articulate our daily experiences
Share knowledge with the video essay
D-normal/V-essay (DnVe), a Winner of Ars Electronica's inaugural edition of “State of the Art(ist)” 2022, is one of Floating Projects' signature projects, awarded by ADC and Jockey Club in 2020 to Linda Lai to be executed with players of the Floating Projects Collective. Six editions of the video zine have been published since the platform's inception.
Videotage will publish the 7th edition “D-normal/V-essay: Videotage Edition” in Jun 2026 through an Open Call, now on until 6 Feb 2026. We are extremely grateful for Videotage to carry on our mission with its own innovative adaptation. DnVe n7 is fully owned by Videotage with resources it provides. WONG Chun-hoi and Linda Lai from Floating Projects will remain on board to edit the backend of the web platform and be one of the jurors, respectively.
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR WORK.
ALL are invited to share and show how you have used video as your personal articulation and ways to share knowledge.
you could be an artist experimenting with the video…
you could be an everyday user of video who have found new meanings in playing with the video
VIDEOGRAPHY: to write with digital moving images
VIDEO ESSAY… highlights purposeful articulation and expression
With the intensifying presence of generative technologies in the AI milieu, we hope to gather global video creators through an open call. Submitted works will contribute to broadening the horizons of the established video essay to incorporate new modes of imaging technologies. How would a broader range of technology shape our personal articulation of how we lived and how to live?
As it has always been so, DnVe seeks to step outside the usual curatorial framework. We not only emphasize “what kind of video articles we want to encourage,” but also further ask “what video essays could be,” and “in what ways the video essay is a timely intervention to invoke new agencies and affordances in our milieu.” Videotage's open call invites collaborators to re-imagine the video essay to push its boundaries. Anyone who expresses with moving image and sound are welcome to participate.
